PENGEMBANGAN KURIKULUM MUATAN LOKAL DALAM KONTEKS PENDIDIKAN ISLAM DI MADRASAH

Abstract. One of the elements that must be preserved and maintained through education is values, traditions, culture, skills and concepts that apply to the public. In recent years, the government rolled out changes to the curriculum by adding local content subjects. Learning through local content, students were be expected to not only have academic knowledge in the form of global knowledge, but also have a concern for the values of the their surrounding socio-cultural. Conceptually, local content-based curriculum consists of two forms. The first form is attached to all subjects, and the two form a separate activity that has nothing to do with the subject. Abstract. This paper is related to innovation learning Islamic education in the State High School Model 3 Palu. The problem studied is how the shape of the learning technique innovation? How its effectiveness? And how students respond to learning techniques such innovation? The results showed: the form of technical innovation of Islamic education in SMA Negeri 3 Palu models include: development of methods and inquiri diskoveri. Effectiveness of technical innovation makes the subject matter became more understood by learners, because the material was found alone and practiced by the students, while the response of students to technical innovation of Islamic Education is very good and positive, as it can deliver educators to find their own subject matter.Kata kunci: inovasi, teknik, efektivitas, respon, ingkuiri, diskoveri

Abstract. This paper rests on the assumption that education is a scientific activity. In the perspective of philosophy of science, the most central issue is the issue of the nature of science and the growth of science. Contemporary scholarly discourse questioned how the consequences of building science to education. This paper confirms that the concept and the actual praxis of education are associated with scientific problems. However, the end of the affirmation is to show that there are other problems also began to be touched by contemporary scientific discourse, the problem of faith, the principle of life, and faith in relation to education. Abstrak. Pendidikan Agama Islam adalah bimbingan jasmani dan rohani berdasarkan hukum agama Islam menuju terbentuknya kepribadian yang sesuai dengan kerangka Islam. Dari segi ini, tampak bahwa ada dua dimensi yang akan diwujudkan, yaitu dimensi transendental dan sekuler. Perilaku agama atau religiusitas harus dapat memenuhi kebutuhan dasar, yaitu kebutuhan untuk memenuhi tujuan agama yang berkontribusi pada kehidupan religius. Evaluasi Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) harus ditangani secara profesional dan proporsional. THE ROLE OF MUṢĀLAḤAH IN CONFLICT RESOLUTION: A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

Abstract. This paper deals with the role of muá¹£Älaḥah in conflic resolution among Muslim societies using a historical approach. From a historical analysis it is concluded that the concept of á¹£ulḥ and muá¹£Älaḥah have predated Islam, and played a vital role in resolving disputes and conflicts among clans in pre-Islam Arab societies. In the period of Islam, as in the case of Fatḥ Makkah (winning over Mecca) and á¹¢ulḥ al-Ḥudaybiyyah (peace treaty at Ḥudaybiyyah). In resolving conflicts, there are principles employed by the Prophet Muḥammad, such as tolerance, non-violence, patience, forgiveness, peace, harmony and mercy.Kata Kunci:       resolusi konflik, muá¹£Älaḥah, á¹£ulḥ, toleransi, nir-kekerasan, pemaafan

Abstract. This article discusses the political thought of Rida Muhammad Rashid Rida in his work in the field of Fiqh Muhakahat. There are several themes that will be discussion, among them: Nationalism in Rida view, the state system, Islamic and Western modernity, and political thought of Rida in fiqh munakahat. In the fiqh munÄkahÄt, Ridha still confined by the influence of classical scholars, such as not being allowed to marry a Muslim woman with a non-Muslim (Ahl al-KitÄb). Studies on polygamy is never finished, there's always pro and contra, in this study, the study of polygamy is focused on the study of law, fiqh study, and the study of hadith, and the view of some contemporary scholars on the issue of polygamy. Although just a description of the polygamy of the various rules, at the point of importance is the author's attitude towards the phenomenon of polygamy in Indonesia. Normative law that gives firmness in social life becomes important in this study. Normative approach is very thick in this paper, because the data used is based on a normative study. ABORTUS DALAM PANDANGAN HUKUM ISLAM

Abstract. Generally, abortion done in case of unwanted pregnancy and was usually motivated by a variety of factors, including economic, social, contraceptive failure in married couples, as well as sex of unmarriad couples. Islam strictly prohibits the act of abortion with social and economic motives. Abortion has absolutely forbidden unless it’s motivation based on justifiable reason in Islam. Perpetrators of abortion may be punished by heavy penalty, which is to pay al-ghurrah or freeing slave. If the penalty of al-ghurrah is applied in contemporary life, the content of the sentence is determined by a court verdict. Islam greatly appreciates human existence since the early stages of events. Every effort to obstruct the growth of the fetus or to remove it from the womb before the arrival time of the birth naturally can not be tolerated.Kata kunci: aborsi, al-ghurrah, janin, ruh, hukum Islam.

Abstract: Bank Syariah Mandiri is a state bank who first introduced a system of sharia. In a way, this bank was applying one system of cooperation with customers called muá¸Ärabah. The systems of muá¸Ärabah are also applicated in the Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Palu, which was established in 2003. This study discusses the theory and application of muá¸Ärabah system in Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Palu. The results showed that the application of muá¸Ärabah system in Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Palu has not been fully realized purely in accordance with the theoretical foundation of muá¸Ärabah system suggested by experts, despite the commitment of Bank Syariah Mandiri Branch Palu to customers has increased significantly.Kata Kunci: aplikasi, sistem muá¸Ärabah, Bank Syarih Mandiri.

Abstract. This article discusses the position of the naá¹£ in the ijtihad of ‘Umar ibn Khaá¹á¹Äb. ‘Umar is a companion of the Prophet who is known to have insight and intelligence. He is known by Muslims as the father of the mujtahid. Courage in ijtihad sometimes spawned debate among scholars. Some have even considered that aspect of ijtihad put the benefit greater than the naá¹£. This is because the results of ijtihad impressed-for some people-contrary to what is contained in the passage, both the Qur'an and Sunnah. Is it true that ‘Umar ibn Khaá¹á¹Äb rule out naá¹£ in ijtihad such allegations as scholars? While on the other hand, 'Umar was a man who got recognition by the Prophet over his intelligence in understanding the religion (Islam). Ia belajar agama Islam dari Kyai Chudlori (alm.) di Pesantren Tegalrejo, Magelang (1966-1968), Kyai Ali Maksoem (alm.) di Pesantren Krapyak, Yogyakarta (1968-1974), dan di Fakultas Syariah IAIN Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta (1972-1979 ). Ia juga belajar filsafat pada Program Pascasarjana UI (1994-1996). Di lingkungan kaum Nahdliyin, Kyai Masdar termasuk sosok berpengaruh. Ia pernah menjabat Wakil Ketua Tim Asistensi Pemikiran Keagamaan untuk Rais Am dan Ketua Umum PBNU (1984-1994), Katib I Syuriah PBNU (1999-2004), Pelaksana Harian Ketua Umum PBNU (2004), dan Ketua PBNU (2005-2010). Setelah Muktamar ke-32 PBNU, kini ia dipercaya menjabat Rais Syuriah PBNU (2010-2015). Kiprahnya di dunia profesional tak kalah hebat. Berbagai posisi penting pun ia jabat, antara lain anggota Komisi Ombudsman Nasional (2001-2009), anggota Komisi Ombudsman Harian KOMPAS (2000-2004), anggota Dewan Etik ICW (2004-2009), Direktur P3M (2000-2009), anggota Panel-45 Presiden RI untuk Sidang Umum PBB 2005, dan anggota Delegasi Indonesia untuk Konferensi PBB tentang HAM di Jenewa (Maret, 2008). Pemikiran Kyai Masdar termaktub dalam sejumlah buku, yakni Agama Keadilan: Risalah Zakat [Pajak] dalam Islam (1993) serta Islam dan Hak-Hak Reproduksi Perempuan (1997). Selain itu, ia kerap pula menuangkan gagasannya dalam banyak artikel di berbagai koran dan majalah serta makalah untuk beragam seminar di dalam negeri maupun di luar negeri.

Abstract: The word al-risÄlah is one of the words used in the Qur’an. The existence of al-risÄlah cannot be separated from the presence of the messenger of Allah among mankind in every age. That is because the messengers were given the recommendation directly by God to carry, to deliver and to  teach al-risÄlah. Al-risÄlah carried, delivered and taught by the messengers to mankind contains the messages of the Almighty God  to invite people not to worship God except  Allah and regulate human life in relation to God, fellow humans and their environment. Abstract: The first problem which came up when Rasulullah Muhammad saw. passed away is the problem of khilafah/leadership, which concerned with the right figure for the position of the head/chairman of the state. Islamic does not provide a patented system of leadership and administration for the moslem. This is not difficult to understand, since the system is not only a guarantee which can create a benefit and prosperity of ummah, but also as something which may change as the age development. Whereas the goal of nation building is to create and realize prosperity. AL-‘ĀLAM DALAM ALQURAN: (Analisis tentang Ayat-ayat Penciptaan)

Abstract: One of the objects of the philosophy studies is the nature. The thought of the nature runs continually to the things beyond the nature (metaphysics) and eventually comes to a conclusion that the existence of the nature must be in process. The philosophers argued that all things created must be in process, namely the process of emanation. The implication of this argument is that the nature is qadÄ«m, because it was created by God since qidam and azÄlÄ«. This argument was opposed by the theologists (mutakallimÄ«n). They said that the nature was something new and its existence was from nothing. These two different theories are supported by the dalÄ«ls of the Qur’an. Their interpretations on the verses of the Qur’an gave the opportunity to result in different argument. The reason is that the use of the terms in the Qur’an, which refer to the meaning of creating, is various, moreover when    referring to the proposition which rejects the existence of the  synonims in the Qur’an. Therefore, eventhough the meaning of the term “khalaqa, bada‘a and fatara is “to createâ€, each this single word has its own substancial meaning.Kata Kunci: Alquran, filsafat, penciptaan alam, khalaqa, bada‘a, fatara

MULTIKULTURALISME DALAM WACANA ALQURAN

Abstract: The paper deals with the concept of multiculturalism from the Quranic perspective. It is argued that since the beginning, the Quran recognised and appreciated diversity based on race, religion, culture, and so on. Even, the Quran itself was revealed in the multicultural context. The epistemological basis for multiculturalism in the discourse of the Quran is “human dignityâ€, from which emerge a set of basic rights that must be respected and protected, which becomes an ethical foundation of multiculturalism. As a consequence of protecting the basic rights, the concept of justice and equality comes to surface. Since human beings are created as sacred and equal, hurting them and their rights is violation to universal humanity. Therefore, to achieve peace, toleration is necessary. To do this task, the strategy of anti-discrimination and prejudice reduction to different groups based on ethnicity, race, culture, and religion—is highly necessary to be established according to local context.Kata Kunci:     Alquran, multikulturalisme, hak asasi manusia, keadilan, toleransi, dialog

Abstract: The Qur’an is the guidance for all mankind. Therefore, the Arabic language used in the Qur’an should be universal, and be easy to understand by all people. The Qur’an has beautiful, fine and standard ambiguity. Because of the ambiguity of the Qur’an language, almost all the words in the verses of the Qur’an can be interpreted. The ambiguity is one of the semantics studies used in studying the meaning. The philosophers and the linguists employ three methods in studying the meaning, namely: 1) explaining the words naturally, 2) describing the sentences naturally, and 3) elaborating the meaning in the process of communication.  Furthermore, to elaborate the meaning, one should view it from the aspects of word, of sentence, and of what the writer and the speaker need to communicate. All the processes of meaning have  been applied in the Qur’an language in order to be comprehended by people more easily.Kata Kunci : Ambiguitas, bahasa Arab, Alquran

Abstract: This article discusses TafsÄ«r Pase, a local exegesis of the Qur'an. The tafsÄ«r was written in Aceh in pre independence day, brought about by the unstable social conditions (conflict). These conditions have implications on the pattern of this tafsÄ«r, so that the contains cover the ideas on the empowerment of Acehnese, expected to increase the unity and the brotherhood among them. TafsÄ«r Pase compiled by a team of five people. The name “Paseâ€, which is used as the name of this tafsÄ«r, was  taken from one of the oldest kingdoms in Aceh. ORIENTALIS DAN DUPLIKASI BAHASA ALQURAN (Telaah dan Sanggahan atas Karya Christoph Luxenberg)

Abstract: The Qur’an is a holy book seving as the source of inspiration for the seekers of science, including those who belong to orientalists. They make Alquran as an object of study and research among both academic and non-academic. One of the most contemporary issues of orientalist studies of the Qur’an was written by Christoph Luxenberg “Die Syiro-aramaeische Lesart des Koran: Ein beitrag Zur Entschluesselung der Koranspracheâ€Â (The Syiro-Aramaic Reading of the Qur’an: A contribution to the Language of the Qur’an Description). Luxenberg says that the Qur’an is heavily influenced by the Syriac-Aramaic language; therefore, to understand the Qur'an properly, one must learn it through the Syriac-Aramaic language. According to Luxenberg, the Syriac-Aramaic language was the language of Lingua Franca of Arabic society at the time of the Prophet, while the Arabic language (Fusha) came later after the Syriac-Aramaic language had reached perfection. McCutheon, a critical figure in studying and responding to the issue of religion, argued that in dealing with a modern and sophisticated life, a variety of approaches must be used to produce a theory that can be understood and accepted by all religions. In addition, no one would have felt marginalized from the structure of social life as the world inhabited by human beings sometimes makes them feel more powerful than the actual ruler. McCutheon gives an example of America and Europe in which considerable change in the structure of the understanding and culture of the community occurs because both regions have different characters and cultures. Abstract: One of the Shia sect is still growing up now is Shia Zaidiyah. Shi'ism Shia Zaidiyah is attributed to Zayd ibn Ali Zainal Abidin, the fifth priest in the hierarchy Zaidiyah Imamat. Zaidiyah Shiites tend to be moderate in the face of dilemmas caliphate of Ali ibn Abi Talib and the three caliphs before assessing his ¬, as priests and priests mafdhul Afdhal. The concept of Imamat and theology tends rational, while the other teachings of his ¬ Ahlussunnah generally synonymous with teaching. Abstract: In Indonesia where the majority of the population is Muslims, pesantren that has thrived since the arrival of Islam to the shore of the archipelago is still out of the central field of the national educational system. As such, pesantren was and is forced to continually be aware with ongoing new educational developments in the country as the result of modernisation and globalisation. The foundation of Ma’had Aly is one of the ways taken by the pesantrens to response to the current developments within Muslim communities, to define or even maintain their central roles as well as to preserve their tradition in such a modernised and globalised Indonesia. By exploring the foundation of Ma’had Alys in Kuningan as a case study, this article closely elaborates how the pesantren world engages these processes both in their cirricular settings and practices and provides how it negotiates with the ongoing changes within its surrounding communities.Key Word: Pesantren, modernity, Ma’had ‘Ali Kuningan

Abstract: This paper discusses the direction of qiblah to Mecca. This direction is determined from any point or place on the earth's surface through the calculation and measurement procedures. Therefore, it is basically a kind of measurement to determine a direction to which Ka’bah can be seen from any point or place on the earth’s surface. Along with advances in technology, at this time qiblah’s direction can be determined more accurately than in the period of the Prophet or in the early days when Islam arrived to Indonesia. Therefore, the accuracy of determining the qiblah’s direction is adjusted according to the ability and advance of technology in their days. Abstract: In the development of contemporary hadith studies, especially after the time of Muhammad Abduh, a number of figures who appear to have a critical view of the classical era of hadith studies. Some people rate them as al-Sunnah inkÄr modern. Among the leaders of contemporary famous hadith studies with a view to look a controversial is-Mahmud Abu Rayyah, heavily influenced his thinking and refers to the opinion of Muhammad Abduh and Muhammad Rashid Rida. Critical work of the most popular traditions is the neighbor Adwa '' ala al-Sunnah al-Muhammadiyah. This article will explain in Abu Rayyah critical thinking contained in the book. This article discusses Gadamer's hermeneutics in the study of political theology. The question of meaning is at the heart of hermeneutic study. The significance or meaning comes from the German word "meinen" which means "in the mind or true". Thus, the meaning of a text, actions, relationships, and so on is what is in the mind of the author in implementing or generating text. According to Gadamer's hermeneutics, the meaning is never involved any of the elements (agents and intentions), but the two elements that must be interpreted (acts, texts and the like) and its interpreter. The Gadamer outlook is what will be used in the view of political realities, particularly the relation between religion and state in the context of Indonesian-ness.Kata Kunci: Hermeneutik Gadamer, Politik, teologi, makna, teks, interpreter.

Abstract: Human beings possess three kinds of intruments to catch the whole reality. The three instruments are the five senses, reason and intellectuality as well as intuiion (revelation and inspiration) whreas the Western intellectluas agree one instrument only, namely the five senses so that they develope one research method only, namely observation method and experiment. The observation method is continually developed into very sopisticated level but it persistently derive from the sense perception. Reason—in the form of reasoning—is employed, but only to choose, to decide and to perform reasoning, not as other instruments to catch the reality. Abstract: The world of pesantren and the Islamic clerics’ charisma  is one of the interesting phenomena to be studied. The style of clerics’ life and religious students is so great that it makes Islamic boarding school posess a multi-dimensional function: The Kyais not only are not only required as priests in religious ceremonies and rituals , but also often required her presence  to resolve the case or the difficulties that  befall the community. In this context, the role of the Islamic clerics is increasingly rooted in the community when their presences are believed to bring fortune. The existence of structures and patterns of authority (leadership) clerics in the Islamic world remain sustainable, because the Islamic clerics have internal social nets (among  the religious schools) and  external social netwoeks (with the world   outside pesantren), includes genealogical network,  ideological network,  intellectual network, theological network, and spiritual network.Kata Kunci: pola kepemimpinan kyai, pesantren, kharismatik dan jaringan

Abstract: The kingdom of the Ottoman Turk was one of the Islamic kingdoms very influential in Europe lands in around the thirteenth century until the fifteenth century A.D. During its rule, the Ottoman Turk had no great concern to the development of education compared with political sector. Consequently, the Islamic education during the rule of the kingdom left behind. For about seven centuries of its rule, the Ottoman Turk produced no influential scientist in Islamic word. Abstract: The Period of Abbasid rule was also called the golden age of Islam. It was so called since in that period, some Muslim scholars in the field of Islamic law and philosophy emerged. The emergence of Muslim scholars at that time was closely related to the obligation to search knowledge in Islam and the supports of the caliphs. It is because of the obligation that a translation institution called Bait  al-Ḥikmah was established. In this institution, the Greek works were translated into Arabic. The translation works were then completed  with new thoughts of the translators and spread out to Syria, Spain and Cecilia. HUBUNGAN ANTARA MAQĀṢID AL-SYARĪ’AH DENGAN BEBERAPA METODE PENETAPAN HUKUM (QIYĀS DAN SADD/FATH AL-ŻARĪ’AH)

This article discusses the relationship between maqÄá¹£id al-syarÄ«'ah with several methods of determining the law. The object of the study is limited to two models of law, namely qiyÄs and sadd (fath)  al-żarÄ«'ah. This problem was discussed through library research by using the comparative method. The results showed that, the method of determination of the law, either through qiyÄs  and sadd (fatḥ) al-żari'ah have a very close relationship with maqÄá¹£id al-syarÄ«ah. In the qiyÄs method, maqÄá¹£id al-syarÄ«'ah is an important factor in assessing the illat, whereas in the method of al-żari'ah, maqÄá¹£id al-syarÄ«'ah it is  sadd al-żarÄ«ah or fath al-żarÄ«'ah as a determinant factor.Kata Kunci: maqÄá¹£id al-syarÄ«ah, qiyÄs, sadd al-żarī’ah, fatḥ al-żari’ah

One of the things that must be seriously paid attention according to Islamic teaching is education of the children. The two sources of Islamic teaching, the Qur’an and the hadith, convey many messages in order that the parents pay attention to religious teaching for their children. Within this context, the family constitutes the main pilar to form the personality of the children which must be conducted by implanting Islamic teaching since the early time. SEJARAH PERKEMBANGAN ORIENTALISME

This article delas with the history of Orientalism. Orientalism in its history, passed three periods with their respective characteristics: (1) the heyday of Islam, Orientalism in this period was characterized by the transfer of knowledge and philosophy from the Islamic world to Europe (2) during the crusades until the time of enlightenment in Europe; orientalism in this time make Islam as the object of systematic study through translation, in this period the stories discrediting  Islam also emerged, (3) the period of enlightenment in Europe until now, orientalism in this period began to shift into the realm of pure intellectual purpose to learn the middle east (Islam) as objective study.Kata Kunci: Orientalisme, Timur, Barat, Perang Salib

Al-GazÄlÄ« is views as a figure who succeeded to reconciled between  the Shari'a with Sufism, and it was he who succeeded to make the teaching of sufism be accepted by the fiqh ulamahis  (scholars of Fiqh). Sufism is the final  path which he chose before which he intensely studied the sensory sciences, theology, and philosophy. TOBAT DALAM PERSPEKTIF ALQURAN

This article deals with repent in the perspective of the Qur’an. The word taubah and the root words of it was found 85 times in the Qur’an with its derivations. Taubah means returning to God with obedience and commitment not to commit the offences forbidden by God. Taubah will be performed after a man or a woman has committed the offences and sins. In addition, taubah is performed as an obligation and medium to approach God as a realization of one’s faith in God.

TELAAH THE HOLY QUR’AN KARYA ABDULLAH YUSUF ALI

This article deals with The Holy Qur’an, a book of translation and of a quranic exegeses written by  Abdullah Yusuf Ali. This book becomes popular since it not only uses international language (English), but also possesses its own characteristics which make it different from other books of  exegeses. The Holy Qur’an is so dominant in its sufistical commentary that it employes esetoric hermeneutics over the symbols existing in the Qur’an. In addition, this book employs lexical, grammatical, contextual, and social-cultural meanings that convey message that the translator depends on the standard language of the Qur’an. Abdullah Yusuf Ali obey does not the literal meanings of the verses, but he puts stongger emphases on its spiritual meanings.Kata Kunci: The Holy Qur’an, Abdullah Yusuf Ali, kitab tafsir  Â

NEPOTISME DALAM PERSPEKTIF HADIS: Suatu Kajian Hadis Mauwdû’î

This article deals with nepotism in the hadîth perpective. Based on the takhrîj al-ahâdîth related to nepotism, their sub-theme, their number of mukharrij and their number of hadîth can be classified in detail as follows: the ahâdîth on nepotism in Shahîh al-Bukhârî  are 3 mutûn al-hadîth; in Shahîh Muslim are 2 mutûn al-hadîth; in Sunan al-Turmûdhî  is 1 matn hadîth; in Sunan al-Nasâ’î is 1 matn hadîth; in Musnad Ahmad are 2 mutûn al-hadîth and in Mustadrak al-Hâkim are 2 mutûn al-hadîth. Based on these findings, the number of hadîth  on nepotism are 11 mutûn al-hadîth and those ahâdîth are found in the six-hadîth references. However, of all the ahâdîth found, none of them permitted to commit nepotism.Kata Kunci: nepotisme, takhrij hadis, syarah hadis

AL-QADR DALAM ALQURAN: Analisis Tematik terhadap Sejumlah Lafal al-Qadr dalam Alquran

This article deals with the term al-qadr in the Qur’an. The things to discuss in this article are the essence of al-qadr, its process and its purpose. In discussing this term, the analytical-thematic method will be used to search the meanings of the term al-qadr in the Qur’an. Based on the result of analysis, it was found that al-qadr was the sunnat Allah itself which had been decided by God. Then, it was  sunnat Allâh called natural law, or causality. The process of al-qadr began with the creation of the universe then the Creator (God) decided the natural law (sunnat Allâh) over it. One of the purposes of al-qadr is to  keep the order of His creation and the equilibrium among creatures in the universe.Kata Kunci: al-qadr, Alquran, sunnatullah, hukum alam

TEKS DAN KONTEKS KEPEMIMPINAN KAUM TUA DALAM NASKAH-NASKAH TAREKAT SYATTARIYAH DI MINANGKABAU

This article discusses the efforts of  intreprating local Islam manuscripts of Minangkabau, particularly the order of Syattariyah in Minangkabau. The manuscripts are culturally important since they are related to the daily religious needs of the disciples of the order of Syattariyah in Minangkabau. This is related to the beliefs that to know about the guru, to posses the book, or to listen to the stories about the ulema, the guru of the order of Syattariyah are essential. The ideolgical perspectives is influenced by the surau teaching system based on the doctrines and books of the teachers. By means of social context analyses of the texts, it is found that one way to reflect the disciples’ respect for the guru(-s) has been done through writing the biography of the respective teachers and understanding their teaching. Because the guru is considered holy man, his story cannot be written in Latin texts, otherwise it will be considered blasphemy or harâm.Kata Kunci:   surau, Kaum Tua, Kaum Muda, manuscrip, Tarekat Syattariyah, Minangkabau, Islam.

Islam is perceived as being not only a new religion by some writers of history, but also as a liberating force. The teaching of Islam—the main source of which is the Qur’an—contains a lot of teaching on liberation the oppressed from the oppressors. The Qur’an even firmly expresses that the Prophet Moses was sent to liberate the oppressed from despotic ruler (Pharaoh). FAZLUR RAHMAN DAN METODE IJTIHADNYA: Telaah Sekitar Pembaruan Hukum Islam

In his monumental work, Islamic Methodology in History, Fazlur Rahman proposed two causes of failure of using ijtihâd as a method in interpreting Islamic law among classical Islamic law scholars. Firstly, there is an unharmonious relationship between “sunnah-ijma’-ijtihâd; secondly, there is a burden of majority doctrine theology towards the law. Both causalities are related each other. Fazlur Rahman tried to show the unharmonious between “sunnah-ijma’-ijtihâd†as stated in usûl fiqh. In those unharmonious relationship, ijtihâd is defeated by ijma’. In fact, ijtihâd is regarded as a means to direct and to form ijma’. The Qur’an, the holy scripture of the Muslims, never changes since its revelation. However, qur’anic exegesis, as the results of brilliant thoughts of the interpreter can only differ from one another. The difference of qur’anic exegesis may be brought about by methods of interpreting the qur’anic verses. Generally speaking, there are method of interpreting the qur’anic verses; textual interpretation and contextual interpretation.
